Plastic Sheet Protectors
A plastic sheet protector is in general available in two different types of plastic. Polypropylene and vinyl plastics or PVC which is the correct technical term and sometime used for vinyl.
Plastic pages made in polypropylene are archival safe and can be use for long term storage of documents, photo, laser and ink jet prints, etc. They will not copy smear or damaged the saved documents. A vinyl page on the other hand can not be recommended for long term storage. They may with time copy or smear the text on the stored document on to the page protector itself. In addition vinyl pages will often get stiff with time and may even get yellow and crack. We recommend only using polypropylene pages. It is safer and in most cases less expensive.
If you wish to read more about archival safety and the use of binder accessory take a look at our page about: Archival Safety and the use of binders. It is short, direct and informativ. It is highly recomended.
